Omaha, NE- H. Donald Osborne passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018, with all of his family of 32 gathered to celebrate Christmas. Instead, there was a celebration of his life in their family home in Omaha. What a blessing! Don was born in Gladbrook, Iowa, the son of Dr. H. D. Osborne and Mrs. Violet Sherwood Osborne, who have preceded him in death, along with a sister, JoAnn Osborne Smith, and a brother in law, William Dan King. Survived by wife, Connie J. Osborne; daughters, Kim Osborne Salistean (John) and Tami Osborne Pederson (Steve); sons, Landon King Osborne (Heidi) and H. Damon Osborne (Heather Blumel); nine grandchildren: Mark Pederson (Brooke), Robert Salistean, Kari Pederson Miketo (Jim), Thomas Salistean (Emily), Kristin Pederson Gupta (Neel), Adam Donald Salistean, Sydney Blumel, Burrough Osborne, and Jerusha Osborne; nine great-grandchildren: Ayla Salistean, Bram Salistean, Claire Pederson, Caroline Pederson, Edwin Salistean, Katherine Miketo, Leo Salistean, John Miketo, and Henry Pederson; sister-in-law, Rose King; brother-in-law, Jack Smith; aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Don graduated from Iowa State University in I955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Industry. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. On March 18, 1956, Don married Connie Jerusha King at Red Gables Farm in Prairie City, Illinois. After a 20-year career in the dairy industry, Don bought Houchen Bindery Ltd, in Utica, NE in 1977. He and his wife, Connie, with the help of family and loyal team members, built one of the top book binderies in the country. In April of this year, he retired. Don was an active member of Dundee Presbyterian Church and belonged to Plymouth Masonic Lodge (Minneapolis), and Tangier Shrine (Omaha). Other activities through the years were Jr. Chamber of Commerce (treasurer), Tip Club, Kiwanis, UNO Board of Library Friends. The H. Don and Connie J. Osborne Family Gallery at Criss Library is named in their honor. He was active in Nebraska, Iowa, and Colorado state Library Associations. Memorials to Dundee Presbyterian Church and Parkinson's Foundation. Services to be held January 5, 2019, 11am at Dundee Presbyterian Church, 5312 Underwood Ave., Omaha, NE 68132.
